Basketball In Cebu

Cebu is known to be a hotbed of Philippine basketball talent. Outside of Metro Manila, Cebu offers the best opportunity for aspiring Filipino basketball players to hone their skills. Many Philippine basketball personalities who made it big in the national scene(Philippine Basketball Association, Philippine Basketball League, Philippine national basketball team) have graced the arenas and basketball courts of the Philippines' Queen City of the South. We remember  Philippine basketball greats Ramon "El Presidente" Fernandez, Abet Guidaben, Jojo Lastimosa, Dondon Ampalayo, Felix Duhig Jr., Gilbert Demape, Roehl Gomez, Bonel Balingit, Al Solis, Boy Cabahug, Julian Macoy, Roger Yap, JR Quinahan, Dale Singson, John Ferriols, Donbel Belano, Junthy Valenzuela, Jimwell Torion, Dondon Hontiveros among others.

 

Cebuanos are really known to be passionate about the sport of basketball. Cebu is in itself a land where there are more basketball courts than daycare centers.

 

Recently, Cebu collegiate basketball has seen a revival of sorts with the crowds breaking game attendance records this past year(2007). The influx of Fil-foreigner basketball players in Cebu has somehow created a renewed interest in the inter-school basketball scene of Cebu.

 

It is the objective of this website to create a good awareness of Cebu basketball in the amateur ranks, particularly collegiate basketball in Cebu. We aim to make this portal rich in content about Cebu basketball to include topics on Cebu collegiate basketball, Cebu youth basketball, Cebu basketball history, Cebu basketball teams' achievements, prospective Cebu basketball stars, Cebu commercial basketball, Cebu basketball in alumni leagues, Cebu developmental basketball, Cebu basketball camps and clinics, and virtually everything that has something to do with Cebu basketball. This portal also aims to cover the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation(CeSAFI) and the Visayas Amateur Athletic Association(VAAA) basketball competitions. Coverage for both basketball leagues is in high demand from Philippine basketball fans outside the Cebu basketball scene.
